[1] After substantial opposition from women’s organisations, the Karnataka Government has put the curfew for working women on hold. Hope the matter is forgotten.
[2] A poll result tells us (after the recent events in Tamil Nadu should we be talking about opinion polls at all?) that 70% respondents want Kalam to continue for a second term.
[3] CNN-IBN has started a poll (oops!) on who the next Prez could be. Contender list includes Kalam, Murthy, Pranab Mukherjee, Somnath Chatterjee, Karan Singh and Shekawat. No, there is no woman on the list. If Kalam declines the invite, may be Shekawat is a good choice.
[4] We can express an opinion, but this time, it’s Mayawati who holds the trump card on who the next Indian Prez is. Because of her thumping victory and the % of votes she collected, she has a huge say in the electoral college. Will she opt for a woman candidate?
[5] Most people don’t know the difference between “compliment” and “complement”.
[6} Even fewer people know the difference between “pour” and “pore”. Sigh!
